Angry Ol Kalou residents on Thursday lit bonfires outside Jubilee Party offices in Nyandarua, protesting non-issuance of nomination certificate to their candidate.

They threatened to support the National Supper Alliance (Nasa) if their candidate, Mwangi Nyaga, who was vying for Kaimbaga ward, is not handed the ticket.

They defaced the Jubilee office and painted it with ODM colours.

“We want President Uhuru to intervene, otherwise we shift our support to Nasa. We nominated Mwangi Nyaga and he was declared the winner, but the party wants to deny him the certificate,” said Lawrence Mwangi, as reported by The Star.

One of the protestors decried the high cost of living, asking Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga to visit the area so as to assure them that his leadership will be different.

“Baba should come here,” he said.

When contacted, Nyandarua Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General, Joseph Kariuki said only President Uhuru Kenyatta has been issued with the party certificate.

“No other candidate has the certificate, and the information that prompted this demonstration is false and misleading,” he said.
