[Photo| Courtesy]It has now emerged that the Jubilee Party, did not know, immediate IEBC Commissioner Dr Roslyn Akombe, held a dual citizenship. This was revealed during a television interview, between President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murathe, and NASA's Rarieda MP lawyer Otiende Amollo, Wednesday.Murathe expressed disappointment, after Akombe resigned Wednesday morning, saying Jubilee Party did not know, Akombe was a citizen of the US, and Kenya, at the same time.He said the party, found out, when she was detained at the JKIA, immediately after the August elections, as she tried to leave the country to New York."We only found out when she was detained at JKIA. The embassy called us, when we were surprised," he said.According to her, Akombe should have not been given the job at the IEBC, due to dual citizenship."Next time, such a job in such a Commission should not be given to anyone with dual citizenship. Mrs Roselyn Akombe held a public office knowing she has dual citizenship, that is criminal," he said. However, Amollo countered him, saying the Constitution allows any Kenyan with dual citizenship to work in any Commission, so as to help with critical issues that may arise.
