Aspirants for various elective posts in Nandi County have breathed a sigh of relief after the Jubilee Party commissioner announced that smart cards will not be used in the forthcoming party primaries.
Aden Noor who conducted the elections for elect Nandi County Jubilee Party Elections Board officials, revealed they have realised the process could be abused by some aspirants.
According to him, the party had realised that some aspirants could abuse the usage of smart cards.
“We want to make the nominations free and fair hence the party will not use the smart cards because it can be misused,” Aden told aspirants, Monday, at the Jubilee Party County offices in Kapsabet.
There have been complaints that the wealthy aspirants had started acquiring the cards and distributing to their strongholds as a strategy to win the primaries.
