A group of Mt Kenya region leaders who include governors, senators and members of parliament have formed a caucus dubbed "UhuRuto Express."
According to the group's leader Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau, UhuRuto Express will be seeking to rally more support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is seeking a second term on a Jubilee Party ticke.
He further revealed that the group will be mobilising voters during the voting day, to ensure a more that 70 per cent voter turnout.
“The team will also seek to heal any wounds caused by the party primaries by re-focusing the attention and energies of its members and Jubilee supporters on the ultimate prize – the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta. UhuRuto Express will achieve this by bringing clarity on its complementary role in the Jubilee presidential election,” he said.
On her part, Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire observed that they will be ensuring that President Kenyatta gets a resounding win.
The caucus was officially launched on Sunday in Nyeri.
