As August closes and ushers in September, it is expected that political fireworks will heighten more so with the envisaged launch of the new Jubilee Party during the month.
Confusion among the 'Cordashians' is also expected to complicate as they continue to scratch their heads really hard while trying to figure out who among Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula is best placed to face Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta.
Back to Jubilee Party September launch, the formal formation of the new political outfit will just be the continuation of what Kenyans are used to during every run-up to the electioneering period.
Whoever said that political parties in Kenya are just vehicles to political power which stand for no particular ideology, must have heard this so called new Jubilee Party in mind and any other political parties preparing to Jubilee's footsteps.
If you doubt, ask yourself, what has changed between 2012 and now when the main political parties in Jubilee coalition, TNA and URP, were separately launched under pomp and colour and thereafter announced a political 'marriage?' Didn't they harmonise their manifestos under which they sought Kenyans' mandate?
If your answer to the latter question is yes, then what anything new do you expect from the new party? The answer is simple and precise. Nothing. Reason being, Jubilee Party will just be another case of a 'different forest, same monkeys', a scenario that Kenyans are pretty well used to every time we near a General election.
The only new thing about the new formation is that it will be metamorphosing from a coalition of various political parties with rather decentralised centres of power to one strong political party with one centre of power. Actually, this is where Raila Odinga fears for his ODM Party which has stood the test of time to remain as the single biggest political party in Kenya over a decade. Otherwise, all the other things about Jubilee will remain the same and you can take that to the bank.
Once the new party hits the ground, gullible supporters, as usual, will be expected to run with the same old fallacy that the party will mean a 'new dawn for Kenyan politics' or it will open a 'new chapter in the way political parties will do things henceforth'. Nothing could be further from the truth! The party will also seek to present and sell the UhuRuto duo as candidates with renewed energy who can be able to steer Kenya for another 5 years.
Of course supporters here will be expected to forget unfulfilled promises and disappointments and focus their energy and loyalty to the new outfit. After the elections are over and by God's grace UhuRuto are re-elected, the party supporters will be asked to wait for another long five years before the cycle repeats itself in 2022. So will it be with any other new political outfit you will hear of in the coming days.
