Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero Sunday claimed Jubilee Party has a hidden agenda in supporting Senator Mike Sonko's bid to become the county boss come August.
Kidero claimed JP is hoodwinking the Kamba community to elect Sonko as governor and later jail him so that his running mate, Polycarp Igathe, can assume office.
He further claimed Sonko is a jail breaker being sought by agencies over cases of escaping from jail, the Star has reported. In seeking the Kamba vote, Kidero said he’s grooming his running mate, Jonathan Mueke to take over the mantle from him.He made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of the Kamba community at City Stadium, which was also attended by Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama. He rallied the community to re-elect him to complete his projects. On his part, Muthama said he will ensure Team Kidero-Mueke are re-elected come August 8. He also vowed to ensure NASA presidetial aspirant Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka win the Nairobi vote.He further dismissed claims that he has ditched Wiper leader Kalonzo.“In 1983, Mulu Mutisya told me to support Kalonzo when I didn’t even know who he was. He won. We remained in Kanu until we moved to LDP, later to ODM-K (now Wiper) and NASA. How foolish could I be to abandon him today?” If my first leg stepped out of Wiper, Kalonzo’s would be the second and if his (Kalonzo’s) one leg stepped out of Wiper, Muthama’s would be second,” he added. He revealed that his move to the city is to ensure the community backs the RaiLonzo ticket.Others who attended the meeting were Nairobi ODM Senate candidate Edwin Sifuna, ODM Makadara MP candidate George Aladwa and ODM’s Nairobi woman representative candidate Esther Passaris among others.
