Kalonzo who is currently in China through his official Facebook account accused government of belittling efforts geared towards the realisation of the East African political federation.

He pointed out that recent remarks by government Spokesperson Erick Kiraithe that a neighboring country was working with the opposition to overthrow government were sideshows meant to cause disharmony among EAC states.

"If what the government spokesman has said is true, then the Jubilee government is working to destabilise the East African Community because 'two neighbouring states' can only mean East African states," Kalonzo said.

"I therefore challenge Jubilee to tell us which neighbouring countries and which individuals are working to destabilise Kenya."

"I must mention that some of us have worked hard to correct the mistakes leading to the collapse of the EAC in 1977. East Africans have worked hard at regional integration to the level of EAC, which the Jubilee government is now actively trying to undermine."

He said government's decision to reduce the Ministry of East African Community affairs into a department under the Ministry of Labour pointed to its laxity to promote regional integration.

One week ago, Mr Kiraithe caused a stir when he accused Cord of planning a civilian coup against government.

"The government has detailed intelligence reports that some politicians are out to take power through extra-constitutional means," Kiraithe was quoted as saying.

Similar accusations were made by Jubilee MPs led by Starehe's Maina Kamanda who on Monday accused Cord leader Raila Odinga of planning to take over power through the backdoor.

Kalonzo said the Jubilee administration has been overwhelmed by the challenges facing the country.

He also took a swipe at the ruling coalition condemning it for blocking Cord from holding a rally at Uhuru Park on Madaraka Day on Wednesday.

"Rather than hiding under cover of state security, Jubilee should now clearly state that they are not interested in national dialogue to resolve the IEBC crisis," Kalonzo said.
