The Jubilee Party is laying grounds that will enable them easily rig the October 26 repeat presidential election, this is according the National Super Alliance (Nasa) North Rift presidential campaigns coordinator Kipkorir Menjo.
Speaking in Eldoret, Wednesday, Menjo said changes being proposed by the Jubilee legislators will make it easier to manipulate election results.
He dismissed claims that the changes will seal loopholes that led to the nullification of the August 8 presidential election in which the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had declared President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner.
"The amendments are not sealing the loopholes infact they will end up worsening the loopholes. You can imagine they want to force Returning Officers to sign those forms meaning even if the results are doctored they must sign them," Menjo noted.
"Basically those changes to election laws will enable Jubilee rig the repeat elections legally unlike in August 8 where they rigged illegally," he added.
Menjo wondered why the Jubilee MPs are in a rush to pass laws which he said are incompatible with free and fair election process.
The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2017 being pushed by the Jubilee party provides for concurrent electronic and manual transmission of tabulated results from polling stations to the constituency and national tallying centre, publish the result forms in a public portal among others.Ends
