Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa has accused Jubilee of hatching a plot to lock her out of the August general election.
Speaking on Friday during a meeting with religious leaders, Jumwa said she had been summoned by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over allegations of instructing her supporters to destroy her rivals’ campaign posters, claims she has since denied."I got an official invitation from IEBC. I was told the matter is being investigated and if found to be true, I may not be on the ballot on August 8,” said Jumwa, as quoted by the Nation. The outspoken MP said than 10, 000 of her campaign posters had been destroyed by unknown persons but she did not lament over the same, adding that she has been preaching peace ahead of the August elections."Since the campaign started, I have maintained peace in Malindi. I wonder why the government wants to create unnecessary tension by instigating the removal of my name from the ballot," added Jumwa. She insisted that IEBC and the DCI will not bar her from contesting for the Malindi seat in the August polls. The incumbent, Malindi MP Willy Mtengo is defending his seat as an Independent candidate after losing to Jumwa in the ODM nominations.
