Former Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro has questioned NASA leader Raila Odinga’s trip to the United Kingdom (UK).Mung’aro said Raila’s trip is suspicious considering the political stalemate being experienced in the country. The former ODM lawmaker alleged that Raila’s trip could be a bigger plot by the opposition to seek political sympathy from the international community, following his withdrawal from the repeat presidential election.Speaking to journalists in Kilifi Town on Thursday, the former MP alleged that Raila wants to ‘sweet talk’ the international community to back his withdrawal from the repeat presidential election.“There is more to what meets the eye in Raila Odinga’s trip to the United Kingdom,” said Mung’aro.Mung’aro further claimed that Odinga could be “running away from the political tension he has created in the country”.The former MP told Odinga he will not get any backing from the international community since his actions are not supported by the constitution.Munga’ro said Raila is afraid of facing off with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat election because he does not have the numbers to win.Raila traveled to the United Kingdom on Thursday where he is expected to give an address on the political situation in Kenya. On Tuesday, the former prime Minister (PM) withdrew from the presidential repeat election claiming that IEBC and Jubilee are not keen to have electoral reforms.Odinga said that he cannot participate in an election whose result is allegedly already predetermined. However, IEBC has maintained that the repeat presidential polls will be held on October 26, adding that Odinga has to fill and sign form 24A for him to officially withdraw from the election.
