Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal is the latest Jubilee politician to comment on Onyango Oloo's decision to ditch the Uhuru Kenyatta-led party for ODM.
Shahbal, who is Jubilee's point-man in Mombasa, said Oloo's move was politically motivated, as he wants to contest for a political seat in Nyanza which is perceived an opposition stronghold.
Shahbal said it would have been hard for Oloo to capture a seat in Nyanza on a Jubilee Party ticket.
"Now that he has chosen to look for a seat, good luck to him. The only way to win the seat is to join ODM," said Shahbal, as quoted by The Star.
However, the former TNA secretary general has dismissed claims that running for a political seat in Nyanza was the main reason as to why he ditched Jubilee for Raila Odinga's ODM.
He said he had to leave the party as it had been dogged by tribalism and corruption, vices which he said he doesn't subscribe to.
He added that his decision to run for the Kisumu Central parliamentary seat came after residents urged him to represent them in parliament.
