Jubilee primaries in Bomet have been pushed from Friday, April 21, to Tuesday April 25, following a crisis meeting held, Thursday night in Bomet.
The postponement came just hours to the d-day of Jubilee nominations across 20 counties.
According to the Bomet County Election Board chairman Benard Mutai, the exercise was pushed to allow proper preparation.
“We have a shortage of ballot papers, and we do not have enough vehicles to transport officers to polling stations. There are no stamps. Additionally, some of the ballot papers delivered have errors,” Mutai is quoted by Citizen Digital.
“Because of the challenges we have faced, we will not be able to carry the nominations tomorrow (Friday) morning. We don’t want a situation where officers have to use exercise books as polling material. We, therefore, ask Jubilee to provide sufficient ballot papers so that we can proceed with the exercise,” he added.
The 'do or die' nominations will be battle between Sotik MP who also doubles up as National Assembly speaker Joyce Laboso, Julius Kones and Stephen Mutai in the gubernatorial race.
The winner who will clinch the Jubilee party ticket will contest with incumbent governor Isaac Rutto who officially joined Nasa coalition in the August polls.
