Garissa electorate will now have to await a little longer before they head to the ballot to pick their preferred contestants in the Jubilee primaries that were previously slated for April 21st.
This follows an announcement issued on Wednesday by the party's National Elections Board Chair Andrew Musangi, who said the decision was necessitated by an increase in the number of counties to 45 where there is tight competition for Jubilee tickets.
The county will now hold its primaries on 25th April. The only counties which did not take part in the nominations were Kisumu and Siaya counties where direct nomination tickets have already been issued.
However, half of the said counties will hold their primaries as had been scheduled on Friday with the remaining twenty three conducting theirs on Tuesday 25th next week. Among the counties who held their primaries on Friday include Nairobi, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Meru, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Laikipia, Embu, Muranga, Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua, Kericho, West Pokot, Nandi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Narok, Nyeri, Trans-Nzoia and Taita-Taveta.
The primaries were overshadowed with chaotic scenes, forcing the party to cancel the whole exercise.
