The camps- Economic Freedom Party (EFP) and Jubilee, pelted stones at each as intense rivalry continues to play out in the governorship race.
Jubilee supporters were clad in red while EFP wore blue. Police were forced to shoot in the air to end the chaotic scenes witnessed at the Stadium before the arrival of the president.
The incumbent governor Mandera Governor Ali Roba on Friday has accused his rivals from EFP of hatching a plot to disrupt the rally.
He went on to warn supporters of EFP nominee Hassan Noor Hassan from attending the rally. President Kenyatta and his Deputy Ruto condemned the chaos.
They reminded the supporters about the need for peaceful polls. They also asked the residents to back them for another term. The duo, however, did not endorse Noor or Roba for seat.
The news comes at a time when both National Super Alliance (NASA) and Jubilee have intensified their campaigns in different parts of the nation.
Both sides are fighting hard to win the votes from this part of the nation. Uhuru and NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga are confident of victory.
