Meru Governor Peter Munya failed to attend President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour of Meru on Friday despite being invited.
No clear reason was given why theParty of National Unity chair failed to attend the rally.
Prior to the meeting, Meru senator Kiraitu Murungi had said that Munya was in the opposition and therefore he did not deserve to be in the same meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta who was accompanied with DP William Ruto.
Igembe South MP Minthika Linturi, who is gunning for the Senate seat had told Munya to keep off the event since he has been supporting NASA.
"We know Munya has been hiring goons ... he should not bring his chaotic politics to the presidential function," the MP said.
During the rally, Uhuru called for his re-election in a series of stopovers in the region.
