There have been many political changes in Ukambani and Kenya at large. Party defections, verbal attack and physical engagement have been witnessed in the recent past.

The Kamba community has not been left behind in this heated political environment. This saw a section of Ukambani leaders pledge their full support for Uhuru Kenyatta and oppose Kalonzo's presidential bid.

The leaders spoke over the weekend and termed Jubilee as a perfect future reflection of the desired Kenya. They were Kitui South MP Rachael Kaki, Yatta's Francis Mwangangi and Masinga's Itwiku Mbai.

They said that they were ready and willing to support president Kenyatta's 2017 re-election. According to the leaders, this is a decision that was arrived at after consultations with the electorate.

"We have thought through our decision and weighed the benefits we can get from Government to those, if any, that we can find by being in the opposition. We are not walking alone in this. I have personally consulted my supporters and I can assure you that the 70 per cent of the votes that Uhuru and Ruto will get in Ukambani will be from Kitui South," Kaki said.

This is a huge blow to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. He is loosing support from his own community. Mwangangi and Mbai termed those sticking with opposition as pure fools. They said that they will rally the Kamba community behind Uhuruto.
