Machakos JP gubernatorial aspirant, Lemi Muia has protested over an alleged attempt by Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka to isolate him in the ongoing hunt for Jubilee Party votes in Machakos County.
According to Lemi, Munyaka had been uncomfortable with his (Lemi) presence in the JP campaign team for Machakos and had allegedly incited other members of the campaign secretariat to isolate him.
“Having paid up for the JP nomination fee for the position of the governor, Dr Munyaka must be alive to the fact that I am one of the most senior individuals charged with driving the JP agenda for president Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaigns in this county,” Lemi told supporters in Matuu in Yatta constituency.
According to Lemi, Dr Munyaka and former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile who is also eying the Mavoko parliamentary seat appear to have assumed the roles of JP point-men in Machakos and their attitude towards other bonafide members of the party could deal a blow to the party’s success in its campaign.
“Those two individuals must understand the essence of teamwork for the sake of the party’s success and stop mixing their personal interests with the greater interest of the party,” he said.
The JP party has been working to gain inroads in Ukambani and ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto gets substantial number of votes in the region.
At the same time, Lemi urged Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition and join the ruling party ahead of the forthcoming election, saying he would be guaranteed a high-rank in the next government.
