The Jubilee Party has laughed off Mombasa governor Hassan Joho's ambition for the top office come the 2022 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on KTN News Tuesday,Jubilee Party strategist Kavemba Mutua poked holes into the governor's recent declaration that he will go for the position upon the expiry of his gubernatorial term terming it as just a scheme to retain political relevance.
He said that Joho has only two options after finishing his two terms at the helm of the county one being to go for presidency or vie for a lower position but has resolved to go for the top spot.
''Joho's ambitions hold no water. He is just keen to remain politically relevant after finishing his terms. He could as well vie for a lower seat but his pride will not let him do that so he would rather try his luck to run for Presidency but he is unlikely to sail through,'' said Mutinda.
He maintained that the changing conditions at the coast is one of the reasons that will hinder Joho's candidature saying that he does not enjoy absolute support in the region.
''He is unlikely to even get the entire coast vote in the first place,'' he said.
Joho officially announced the plan during his inauguration ceremony in Mombasa earlier on Tuesday,an event that was attended by NASA leader Raila Odinga.
Also in the race is Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
