Although Ruto has consistently accused Jubilee of continually vilifying the region’s leaders and neglecting it, Laboso has dismissed him saying Ruto was not a leader the the South Rift needed now.
“It is easy for people to whine and complain that the Kipsigis have been neglected,” she said.
“But when you look at it, what option does Governor Ruto bring to the table, really? The people know that he and the rest are sensational leaders out to spoil for William Ruto,” she said.
However, Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno who is also a close ally of Ruto’s said that it was time for the community to start charting its own political path.
“We have been taken for a ride for far too long. We voted as a bloc, gave Jubilee all the votes we had, and now they are harassing our leaders and we are sidelined in development,” said the MP.
The governor had a bitter fallout with DP William Ruto, refusing to join the Jubilee Party, forming Chama Cha Mashinanai (CCM) and is currently said to be slowly working with the opposition in a battle of supremacy in the Rift.
