He says that the things unfolding at IEBC 6 days to repeat election, seems to be following a particular 'script'. [Photo: kenyan-post]Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has asked Kenyans to brace themselves for any eventuality including the resignation of IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati.According to the current electoral law, Chebukati is the returning officer for the presidential election, and the only person mandated by law to announce the outcome of a presidential poll. Therefore, if Chebukati was to resign before the polls happen, it would mean that the whole October 26 exercise would go into disarray.Murkomen, speaking on NTV's Sidebar on Wednesday, said that 'it seems that the commissioners are working with an already prepared script'."How can Akombe and Chebukati realise that there are problems only seven days to the elections? This is more than meets the eye. If Chebukati had spoken the way he talked today (Wednesday), then we would not have even gone to the Supreme Court because the elections could have been uncontestable," Murkomen said.He added: "Unfortunately, Chebukati has wasted our money and time and his tough-talking isn't going to yield much. Kenyans should prepare for anything because it seems that there was a script to be followed."The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator said that when a commissioner runs to America to 'make a statement in New York it discredits the ones who have remained'.He argued that Jubilee Party has never opposed the removal of anybody from the IEBC, but has always asked the commission to do the right thing.
