A Jubilee Senator now wants the Opposition leader Raila Odinga arrested and charged with contempt of court.
Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi said Raila's plan to stop the repeat presidential election ordered by the Supreme Court amounts to bleach of law, calling on the Inspector of Police Joseph Boinnet to move fast and arrest him.
"The Supreme Court has ordered IEBC to conduct a fresh poll within 60 days. Now Raila has announced that NASA will boycott and stop the repeat election if their demands are not met. That is blatant contempt of court offence," he said speaking during an exclusive interview with Kameme FM on Thursday.
Wamatangi further accused the Opposition leader of planning to destabilize the country ahead of the poll slated for October 17.
"Raila is not ready to go to the ballot because he has sensed defeat. What he is doing now is to try and make the country plunge into a constitutional crisis so that he can force a coalition government with President Uhuru Kenyatta,” the Senator said.
NASA has maintained there will be no election without electoral reforms.
Among their demands is the sacking of top IEBC officials including secretariat CEO Ezra Chiloba.
