Nandi senator Kiprotich Cherargei underwent a knee surgery last weekend and is now recuperating at a Nairobi hospital.

Cherargei suffered the knee injury on March 26, 2014 at Kapsabet town during a peaceful demonstration that he led against corruption, nepotism and bad governance that later turned chaotic.

The Nandi legislator through his Facebook page on Wednesday thanked everyone who prayed and offered their support as he underwent the surgery.

"I thank God almighty, my lovely wife , family, friends & great people of Nandi county for their prayers and support as I underwent knee surgery last weekend and subsequent admission to recuperate," Cherargei posted.

"This knee injury was courtesy of political thuggery & hooliganism of 26th March 2014 at Kapsabet town when I led Peaceful demonstration against then chematel inc who were perpetuating grand graft , nepotism & bad governance to strive for accountability, transparency, fairness & good governance which ideals I stand for & are still elusive upto now," he added.

The Jubilee senator further expressed confidence that he will recover soon and serve the people of his county and Kenyans at large.

"In fullness of time I shall be able to get back to serve the great people of Nandi county & Kenyans with utmost dedication and absolutely fidelity to service to God & humanity," he noted.
