Details surrounding a lengthy meeting between Deputy President William Ruto and at least 105 politicians drawn from the large Naymira County have emerged.
The Jubilee campaign team in Gusii has been embroiled in internal wrangles which precipitated to Monday’s meeting at DP’s Karen home.
And a source who sort anonymity said top politicians from both Kisii and Nyamira counties have been given a month to come with a fair formula that would help then distribute elective seats fairly.
Regional balance and clan are among the parameters that would be used by the top contenders should they heed William Ruto’s suggestion.
“The DP wants them to go for elections are a united team and that is why he wants them to negotiate. They have been given a month to distribute fairly the seats among for further directives,” said the source.
“Upon reaching consensus, they will again go to State house to report developments before campaigns kick off officially,” added the source.
Gesima MCA Ken Nyameino partly confirmed the progress when he said the team met after a visit to Ruto’s home at a Nairobi hotel.
“We are in a crucial meeting and we have been given datelines. It is tough but we shall let people know,” he said.
In Nyamira, Jubilee ticket has attracted a host of gubernatorial hopefuls among them Walter Nyambati, Charles Mochama and William Nyakiba.
However, the contest in Kisii County has been narrowed down to Chris Obure and Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.
