Cord leader Raila Odinga has said that ahead of the 2017 general elections, the country is quickly realigning its political patterns and that there are no longer Jubilee strongholds.
Odinga said this in reference to Meru and Rift Valley where he said the opposition has received more support as opposed to the notion that they are strongholds of the Jubilee Party.
“There is nothing like Cord or Jubilee strongholds. You saw yesterday when I went to Meru. Would you say that is a Jubilee stronghold? You go to the Rift Valley, a huge chunk of it, would you say it’s a Jubilee stronghold?” the ODM chief asked.
Raila's sentiments seem to be drawn from the recent shift in the Rift Valley where Bomet governor Isaac Ruto is said to be inching towards joining the opposition alliance NASA.
Similarly, KANU, once a dominant force in the Rift, has expressed willingness to work with the opposition to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee government.
