Cord leader Raila Odinga now says the Jubilee administration has run out of ideas in governing the country, and has instead has resorted to harassing dissenting voices.
Raila spoke in Kitutu Masaba during the homecoming of area MP Timothy Bosire who was among the legislators who were detained for four days at the Pangani and Muthaiga police stations recently over hate speech.
They eight denied the charges when they were arraigned in court and released on bond.
" The Jubilee government has run out of ideas of helping our people in terms of food security, education, infrastructure and has now embarked on harassing harmless leaders by arresting them without committing any crime," said Raila on Sunday.
Addressing a roadside gathering at Magombo market, the Cord leader said freedom of speech is guaranteed in the constitution and it was exactly what the arrested leaders exercised.
"Our constitution allows freedom of expression and our Cord leaders where expressing their opinions regarding comments made by Kuria," he added.
The former Prime Minister was accompanied by some of the MPs who were arrested for hate speech among them Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Senator Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) and Kilifi County woman rep Aisha Jumwa and her Busia counterpart Florence Mutua and among other Cord politicians.
