Jubilee party officials in Nyanza have blamed sycophancy among some of their colleagues for the poor support base the party enjoys in the region.
Led by Kisumu County Jubilee officials, the leaders said some of their colleagues who were endearing themselves to President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto as political brokers in the region made it difficult for grassroots officials to connect to the people for government benefits.
The party's Kisumu County deputy Chairman Zuberi Odhiambo said ex-TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo and URP activist George Ayugi were among people who had surrounded the president and his deputy in the pretense that they could best drive the Jubilee agenda in Nyanza.
"These sycophants have made it impossible for anything good to come down to the people so that we can sell the Jubilee agenda since 2013," said Odhiambo.
He termed as good riddance the defection of Mr Oloo and cautioned Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto against sycophants who only endear themselves to the leaders for their own benefits.
"I want to advise the two to be very cautious who they deal with because we have learnt that some of these people are ODM moles who end up selling Jubilee secrets," said Odhiambo.
Odhiambo, county chairperson Atieno Otieno, county secretary general Steve Biko Gwendo, nominated Senator Joy Gwendo and officials from Homa Bay, Migori and Siaya urged the new Secretary General Raphael Tuju to deal directly with the county officials.
"We are the true officials with the party's interests at heart. As we head for the election, I would like to ask Tuju to work with us, let him delegate us duties so that we lighten his workload," said Ms Atieno.
