On Tuesday, the Jubilee Party told the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to cancel a deal made with UNDP to print out presidential ballot papers and results declaration forms.
According to National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale said Kenya is not a banana republic' and therefore does not require the help of the United Nations for the upcoming October 26 presidential election.
"PMF Act prohibits IEBC from using UNDP or any other institution to finance the procurement of election materials. [IEBC chairman Wafula] Chebukati should not take that route. It is illegal and unconstitutional," Duale said as quoted by The Star.
This follows a letter written to NASA by Chebukati stating that he had made a deal with the UNDP and was awaiting word from the National Treasury on how to move forward.
Duale has also maintained that the Jubilee administration has no intentions of forming a ' nusu-mkate government' and that it will thwart any plans the opposition party tries to push for the formation of a coalition government.
"There is no vacuum in the office of the President. Uhuru [Kenyatta] is not under temporary incumbency, he can hire and fire. [The] Supreme Court nullified the presidential results meaning there was no election and therefore Uhuru is the President," he added.
