Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe. He is proposing chopping off the hands of the corrupt. [Photo: the-star.co.ke] Jubilee will amend the law to have those found guilty of corruption punished by chopping off their hands. If re-elected, the party Vice-Chairman David Murathe has said that if they get the required numbers in parliament to make this legislation a reality, they won't hesitate to pass it."We will amend the law to chop off the thieving hand. In some Arab countries, they have similar laws that discourage corruption and there is no problem with Kenya borrowing a leaf to weed out the vice," said Murathe on KTN News Kivumbi programme on Monday. He said that there was no more need to 'romanticise' the war against corruption as it has sunk Kenya in deep waters. The former Gatanga MP also noted that there was a need to bring all stakeholders on the table including the government and the opposition to chart way forward in the fight against corruption. He added: "If they agree to cooperate we amend the law and give the President sweeping powers to undertake some of those actions against corruption that he cannot now do because his hands are tied, we are much ready for it."Nasa Secretariat CEO Norman Magaya, however, rubbished Murathe's proposal saying if such a legislation was passed, 'nobody in Jubilee will have a hand including Murathe himself'.
