A top lawyer has revealed that the ruling Jubilee Party may not live to see the 2022 presidential election.
Nelson Havi who was among lawyers who represented opposition chief Raila Odinga at the Supreme Court when he petitioned President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election after the August 8 general poll said the party "is slowly sinking and may not be salvaged" anytime soon.
In a Sunday tweet, Havi said: "The Jubilee Party has permanently docked never to sail again, as did Party of National Unity and National Rainbow Coalition Kenya before it. Whoever desires the Presidency in 2022 from the government side must expeditiously assemble an ark and move with his passengers or perish in a Nephilim deluge."
Currently, there are divisions within the Jubilee Party especially with regard to Deputy President William Ruto's plan to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Politicians within the ruling party are sharply divided over whether to support Ruto's bid to ascend to State House or not. Even those from Rift Valley where Ruto comes from are divided on whether to support Ruto or Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's bid for the presidency.
Uhuru, himself has of recent not indicated that he will support Ruto to take over the country's leadership in 2022.
