Jubilee Regional coordinator Victor Munyaka has said that the party will field a candidate to lock horns with the incumbent Governor Dr Alfred Mutua during the next general polls.
Speaking during a meeting with aspirants at a hotel in Machakos, Munyaka confirmed that the party will present candidates for all the elective positions in the county including governorship.
He also said that they are consulting other parties in the outfit to determine the right person to deliver the seat when that time comes.
“All affiliate parties were dissolved to form Jubilee. This means any other party that did not dissolve was not part of us," he said, as quoted by the Star.
According to Munyaka Jubilee is going to continue working as an independent party as President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto look forward to retaining their seats.
“Jubilee will carry out its nominations independently without expecting excuses of 'so and so or such and such a party is friendly therefore we should not field a candidate in competition," he added.
If Munyaka’s words are anything we can go by then it will be a big blow to Mutua since he has vowed to back the re-election of UhuRuto through his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
