Jubilee government has said it will complete its digital literacy programme before the next general election.
Making the statement, ICT Authority Director Paul Ronoh revealed that the President had issued an official directive that the programme would be finalised before April 2017.
Ronoh further expressed concern that managements of public primary schools across the counties have not put up all the necessary infrastructure, citing power connectivity and secure rooms for keeping the tablets.
“The ministry has dispatched ICT and Quality assurance experts across the country to oversee on schools’ readiness for the laptop project, but we are much disappointed that a number of schools still lack infrastructure to accommodate the project,” Ronoh expressed.
The ICT director further called on the hired contractors assembling the tablets, including Moi and Jommo Kenyatta Universities to up their game so as to ensure they reach to all standard one pupils before the stipulated deadline.
He, however, asked members of the public especially the opposition to stop castigating the laptop project.
