Kwale governor Salim Mvurya is set to become the new Council of Governor's chairperson.
This is after Jubilee-elected governors held a meeting and agreed to endorse the party's strong man at the coast in what is said to be political reward for spearheading the Jubilee campaign in the region.
Mvurya previously served as the deputy chairperson of the CoG for two terms.
President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed the idea, saying that Jubilee needs to control who occupies the CoG chair seat throughout the five years ahead.
"We have been elected on a shared platform. Let us work together for the betterment of our people," Uhuru said at the State House in Nairobi.
"I am asking that this time we start on the right foot. Let us not be people who engage in confrontation. Do not make the Council of Governor a venue for competition; make it truly a venue for developing issues for consultation," he added.
