Democratic Party wants Jubilee leaders to end President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession talks.
Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Esau Kioni has said it is premature to engage in debate on who will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 even before the 2017 elections are over.
He has warned that the talk could ruin the President’s current re-election campaigns.
Political parties supporting the President’s re-election bid should focus on current campaigns, says Mr Kioni.
He has also said that people from Mr Kenyatta’s backyard of Mt Kenya should not be worried that there might be a vacuum once the President retires from active politics.
"Engaging in President Kenyatta’s succession debate is unnecessary…We must address the current issue which is to ensure he gets back to office," said Kioni.
