Nairobi governor Mike Sonko could be a man walking on his own after top Jubilee leadership denounced him over his recent actions.
While criticising him for a poor work record, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe accused Governor Sonko of failing the Party’s manifesto.
He said Sonko was not committed to delivering services to the people who elected him.
Murathe added that they will be going ahead to impeach the governor because of his actions.
This comes in the wake of criticism against the governor over endless battles with some State House officials as well as his most recent decision to nominate opposition man Miguna Miguna to deputise him at the helm of the county.
The decision was not well received by other Jubilee leaders, with his senator Jonson Sakaja insisting that they would ensure the nomination does not sail through.
“Miguna will not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi. Take that to the bank,” Sakaja said in a tweet.
In the heat of controversy, Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has asked the party to remain united and speak in one voice so as to realise development.
“There is a need for the leaders in Jubilee to come together and speak with one voice on how they want the county to be managed. This wrangling won’t help anyone,” she said.
