The battle for the Nyali parliamentary seat has taken shape following the latest declaration of Ashraf Bayusuf as the winner of the Jubilee Party ticket to contest for the position in the August polls.According to the final tally, Bayusuf garnered 1,404 votes against his nearest challenger Sanjeev Agarwal who polled 1,344v while Yasir Noor got 985.Bayusuf's win sets the stage for a grueling contest with ODM's candidate for the seat. Governor Hassan Joho's cousin Said Abdhala had clinched the ticket in a nomination exercise that was contested by his rival, former journalist Mohamed Ali.The ODM Dispute Tribunal has since ordered for a repeat of the exercise following an appeal by Ali.However, Ali has maintained that he will be on the ballot come August with or without ODM.Also in the race to succeed the outgoing MP Hezron Awiti is Simon Adalla who will be vying on an ANC ticket. With Wiper keen to defend the seat, John Mcharo will be flying the party's flag after bagging 909 votes against his challenger, Mark Ouma who polled 353 in the party's nominations.
