Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has accused Jubilee administration of using food crisis in the region to gain political mileage in the run to the August 8 polls.

Speaking in Gongoni area of his county, firebrand governor questioned the timing of food disbursement, saying that it is a ploy by President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government to lure voters into supporting them.

"Jubilee is not sincere in its intentions of supplying food here, I urge you to reject their overtures just like last year during the Malindi by-election, they splashed the cash but you rejected their candidate. They have made a lot of trips to this region lately just because the election is next month," he said.

According to Kingi, the region stands no chance to benefit in Jubilee even as he asked them to support the NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga in his quest for the country's top seat in his fourth stab at the presidency.

He exuded confidence that he will floor his bitter rival for the county top seat Gideon Mung'aro who is vying on a Jubilee Party ticket.
