Speaking on Saturday at  Tsangatsini in Kilifi County, Governor Amason Kingi said the Jubilee government was using the hunger problem to campaign for the 2017 elections.

He spoke during the food distribution exercise at the area.

"The government is distributing food and at the same time giving conditions to the people. They are using the relief food distribution exercise to campaign for themselves for the forthcoming 2017 elections and this is unacceptable," said Kingi.

His sentiments were echoed by Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga and his Rabai counterpart William Kamoti who were present during the relief food distribution exercise at Tsangatsini.

They accused Water CS Eugene Wamalwa and Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri of using the relief food as a means of garnering support for Jubilee government.

They called on the government to stop giving people ultimatums in the relief food distribution exercise in the drought-stricken areas of the country.
