Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto of using the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to arm twist NASA supporters.
Speaking at Mikindani in Mombasa during his two-day tour at the Coast, Mudavadi claimed that Jubilee has resorted to using unacceptable ways to ensure they retain power after the next general election.Mudavadi said several business owners are being harassed by the taxman just because they support the opposition coalition.“The government is using KRA to arm-twist businesses to forcefully support Jubilee campaigns or else get slapped with tax.Uncooperative businesses who fail to succumb to this grand extortion scheme are slapped with impossible tax bills,” said Mudavadi, as quoted by the Nation.The presidential aspirant said if elected to power, NASA will convert KRA and give it constitutional independence to protect it from politicians with ulterior motives.The former Deputy President also faulted the Jubilee administration for taxing Kenyans heavily, adding that life has become unbearable for the common mwananchi, since the cost of living is too high.
