Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has emphasised the need for removal from office, Registrar of Persons.
He said the party has been calling for the removal of the Registrar of Persons since 2016, saying he had reached his retirement age but had been retained in the position by the Jubilee administration under unclear circumstances.
"It is quite disturbing that despite Wiper’s call as early as January 25th 2016 for the removal of the Registrar of Persons (the officer reached the retirement age but had been retained by the Jubilee administration in unclear circumstances), the said officer is still in office,'' he said, Thursday.
Kalonzo said Jubilee was retaining him to facilitate rigging in the August 8, general polls, by frustrating the quest by Kenyans to acquire ID cards to register as voters.
"The continued stay in office of the officer is a Jubilee strategy to pre-rig the elections by frustrating the registration of identity cards, which would eventually deny wananchi the right to vote. Let us keep fighting for the our beloved country Kenya,'' he added.
Kalonzo was speaking during the Wiper party National Executive Council meeting at the party Secretariat in Lavington.
