Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has termed government’s efforts of fighting drug menace in the country, as political.
He noted the Opposition supports the war against drugs, but however, they are opposed to the manner in which it is being done.
According to the ODM Director of Elections, the government is using the war against drugs, to politically target Opposition politicians.
''I see the war on drugs has been politicised. Being used to target individuals,” he said during a television interview.
Junet allso questioned the government, and wondered why it started the fight on drug trafficking, just six months to the general election, despite being in power for the last four years.
''In 2009, the government said it would fight drugs at the Coast, yet nothing has been done. Why put up a spirited fight now?'' wondered the ODM lawmaker.
According to the legislature, Jubilee government had lost in everything and it was trying to gain support at the Coast region, by attacking Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
“Does it have to take the Deputy president to go to Mombasa to fight the war against drugs,” he asked.
In a press briefing, Tuesday, Joho told journalists that he was a target of Jubilee government's hypocrisy in war against drugs.
