Malindi Town MP Aisha Jumwa has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government against interrupting NASA leader Raila Odinga’s planned swearing in set for January, 30.

Jumwa argues that Raila’s planned coronation is legal and that Jubilee government should back off.

Speaking to journalists in Malindi  Town on  Saturday, the ODM MP trashed critics questioning the constitutionality of Raila’s swearing in.

She  claimed that Raila won the August 8 presidential election and as such he should be sworn in as the people’s president.

“What all Kenyans know is that Honorable Raila Odinga defeated Uhuru Kenyatta with over one million votes in the August 8 presidential election and he deserves to be sworn in,” she said.

Jumwa said that failure by the IEBC to open serves as ordered by the Supreme Court during the hearing of the first presidential election in 2017 was a clear indication that Raila allegedly won the election.

The MP said that NASA not going to be intimidated and that Raila’s oath will and must take place.

She dismissed the government threats against Raila’s coronation terming them baseless and which cannot stop Raila’s coronation.

Raila and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka will be sworn in as the people’s president on January 30 according to the chairman of the People’ S Assembly committee David Ndii.

NASA has lined up a series of rallies across the country ahead of the planned swearing in.

Raila has maintained that he does not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as president that he will be sworn in as the people’s president.

On Thursday last week, US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec asked NASA to call off the planned swearing in instead seek reforms dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
