Barely a day after the JSC named Hon Justice David Maraga as the most suitable to succeed Dr Willy Mutunga, leaders and activists from Gusii land have sent an advance warning to any politician intending to use the same as a campaign tool.
They termed the nomination as fair, transparent and that it was done by an independent body, immune from political interference.
"Justice Maraga has been nominated on the basis of competence and merit, no politician influenced the process and those claiming to have done this are misplaced," said Elijah Kombo, a politician, activist and community worker".
Petronila Getena, a famous radio presenter at Egesa fm and a community worker too, had this to say, "The JSC is and independent body, let nobody claim to have aided the process."
These reactions followed remarks by some politicians affiliated to Jubilee Party terming the appointment as a fruit of the recent visits by some leaders to statehouse to 'discuss development and ask for a share of the national cake'.
