Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has dismissed claims that Jubilee Party has made inroads into the Ukambani region ahead of the August polls.
Speaking on Wednesday, the County Chief noted that region was firmly in the Opposition, adding that locals will be voting overwhelmingly for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his Deputy Kalonzo Musyoka.
He further rubbished recent defections of MPs from Wiper Party to the ruling party Jubilee.
"The Deputy President (William Ruto) was saying Jubilee had almost succeeded in wooing Ukambani by poaching a majority of Wiper leaders...but my presence in Wiper and subsequently NASA has put them in an awkward position," he said.
Kibwana also hit out at Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze and Kitui Senator David Musila for endorsing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"It is very hard campaigning for Jubilee in this region because they have done nothing for our people. I don't know how Nyenze arrived at that," he stated.
