Deputy President William Ruto has maintained that Bomet County and the entire South Rift region remains a political stronghold of the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV Sunday, Ruto rubbished the efforts being employed by the county Governor Isaac Ruto to drift the region away and deliver it's support to the opposition block NASA saying that he is irrelevant in the region.
''Jubilee is still the most dominant outfit in the region and will win all the seats in the entire Bomet county,'' said Ruto who maintained that the Governor, despite attracting large crowds whenever he attends a rally cannot shake the JP support in the region.
''The crowds mean nothing. His move to NASA is also inconsequential and he has a right to do so because this is a democratic nation,'' said the D.P.
The Governor who was elected into office under the now defunct URP Party, one of the outfits that merged to create the bigger Jubilee Party, has since forged his own Chama Cha Mashinani party which he seeks to use to retain his position. The party is also one of the 5 member parties of the NASA alliance.
The DP also predicted a big victory for the party in the presidential poll saying that the party has made done vigorous campaigns and nothing can stop it from securing a second term for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
''We will win in the first round with an even bigger margin than we did in 2013,'' he said.
