Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto of 'bribing' the Luhya community to support their re-election bid.
The Ford-Kenya leader said the Jubilee administration is launching projects and reviving collapsed factories such as Pan Paper Mills in Webuye to entice the region into Jubilee.
Speaking during a campaign rally at Shinyalu market in Kakamega County, Wetangula said, as quoted by the Nation, such efforts by the ruling coalition are doomed to fail.
"President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are busy making forays in Western and launching development projects. But what is happening is a ploy to hoodwink the Luhya community to back Jubilee. Let them know our people will not be fooled that easily," Wetangula said on Saturday.
He urged unregistered voters in the region to participate in the mass voter registration exercise starting Monday to help the opposition get the Jubilee regime out of power in the August 8 polls.
"Kenyans are tired with Jubilee and want a new team to take charge and deal with rampant corruption threatening to tear our country apart," the Senate minority leader said.
