Members of the Gusii community have been challenged to join Jubilee government or risk being left out in 2017 elections lineup.
The community voted overwhelmingly for opposition Cord in 2013, a reason why Jubilee under the stewardship of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy pitched tent in the region for the better part of Wednesday and Thursday.
Speaking at Kisii town on Thursday, Deputy President William Ruto warned the community of risking to be left out of the government arrangement if they failed to join ‘winning’ team.
“Last elections, you voted against us but we have remained loyal to you till this time. We have always been with you all throwing despite your voting pattern in 2013,” Ruto said.
“This time round, you are either with the winning team or not. We don’t want to play politics of guess work so it’s important that you join us so that we form the government as a big team,” he added.
“The reality is when you vote a sitting government, you get a special treatment and that is a political reality. You are either with us because we will form government in 2017 or spend another five years in cold,” Ruto added.
President Kenyatta on his part challenged political establishment from the region to join Jubilee terming it an ‘ideal’ party for all Kenyans.
“All rightful thinking Kenyans should be in Jubilee not just Kisii community. We have great plans and we have shown our ability as government. Do not risk being left out of government because Jubilee is the ideal party for Kenyans. Join as and let’s work together,” he said.
