West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has stated that residents of Pokot will support National Super Alliance leader, Raila Odinga on October 17 should the government fail to lift the shoot to kill order against bandits.
Lonyangapuo said that the order has led to a lot of violence and property loss within the community.
He went on to ask residents to cease from engaging in cattle rustling so that the Government of Kenya can stop its security operation.
“If you fail to lift the order then we are ready to vote for Raila Odinga come October 17. It is high time the government cease the fire and engage in peace talks with warring Pokot, Tugen, and Marakwet communities,” he said.
Lonyangapuo won the gubernatorial seat back in August on a KANU Party ticket and the party supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the General Election.
Earlier this year, Deputy President William Ruto issued a shoot-to-kill order to law enforcement against the bandits reported to be operating in the Rift Valley region.
