MC Njagi's new song, ‘Mbele Iko Sawa’ has a persuasive message on why Kambas should join Jubilee.
A funnyman has composed a song urging the people of Ukambani to support the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure they are in the next government. The comedian, MC Njagi, has listed the development projects the people of Ukambani have benefited from the Jubilee administration, while at the same time painting a picture of how the region will ‘suffer’ should they support any other political formation in the August 8 general election.MC Njagi says legendary Kamba politicians, such as Mulu Mutisya, left the community in government, urging the people to back the UhuRuto administration. “The likes of Mulu Mutisya left Kambas in the government. Being in the Opposition is like being in the foreign land for us the Kambas. Let’s go back to government,” he sings, in Kiswahili. The song, ‘Mbele Iko Sawa’, which has gone viral on social media, also makes reference to Wavinya Ndeti’s hilarious mix of a Swahili proverb — ‘Yaliyondwele sipite’. The musician says leaving the Jubilee administration is walking away from the provision of water, hospitals and electricity in a region that has been lacking basic amenities for decades. He adds that joining NASA is like as milking a bull. The video of the song features President Uhuru Kenyatta launching several development projects. “This time round we have decided. It is well ahead. We are in government,” he sings. “Let me tell you brother: one bird at hand is better than two in the bush. Just the other day, Kalonzo (Musyoka) was working with his brothers Uhuru and Ruto. Why can’t he do that again,” he says as the song ends. A significant number of elected leaders from Ukambani have declared their support for President Kenyatta.
