President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee administration is committed to end youth unemployment in the country, a Cabinet Secretary has said.
Speaking during a youth convention in Nairobi, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Sicily Kariuki announced government plans to create 6.5 million jobs for the youth.
"Job creation remains at the heart of Jubilee's priorities. As a government we have set out to create at least 6.5 million jobs over the next five years to ensure the youth can secure and maintain good jobs that enable them enjoy a decent life," she said.
While noting that the young people are the country's greatest asset, Kariuki said the State was keen to involve them in nation building.
"We want to position the youth to channel their energies towards growing the economy and delivering Vision 2030," the CS added.
