With the supremacy battle between NASA affiliate parties and Jubilee in the race for Mombasa votes reaching fever-pitch, the President's party's has come up with a strategy to eclipse the Raila Odinga-led outfit.
In a meeting with the party's grassroots volunteers on Sunday that was presided over Jubilee point man in the county who is also in the race for the governor seat, Suleiman Shahbal, it was agreed that strengthening and popularizing the party is top of the agenda. The grassroots volunteers will be the party's ambassadors in the region that has danced to the ODM tune for the past one decade.Further, the grassroots volunteers promised to carry door-to-door campaigns trying to change the people's mind on why Jubilee is the 'best option' in the August election.Shahbal and Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima are the two men who have been given the uphill task of delivering the county's votes to Jubilee.Raila Odinga's ODM swept all the county assembly seats in 2013 before going on to win five parliamentary seats and the governor position, while Kalonzo's Wiper won the senator position and Jomvu MP seat. However, the Jubilee leadership in the county is optimistic they will reverse their 2013 dismal performance that saw them fail to clinch a single seat.
